Mother accuses surgeon of 'sexism' after he wrote a letter praising her husband for 'manfully stepping in' to take his own daughter to a hospital appointment when she was ill.
Jo and Billy Martin (pictured), of Chorley, Lancashire, were sent a
letter with the 'sexist remarks' two weeks after Mr Martin took three-year-old
Jessica (pictured) for an appointment at Royal Preston Hospital. In the letter
(pictured right), the paediatric surgeon wrote: 'Unfortunately her mum could not
be at the clinic visit today as she has not been well and father stepped in
manfully.' The couple were so shocked they
shared the letter on social media and claimed they could not imagine him using
'womanfully' in the same context. The mother-of-three, who had
planned to take Jessica to the appointment but was unwell,
also says she has been made to feel guilty for missing it. Mail.
