England Extract Consolation From Series Defeat.

A huge 232 run victory in Saint Lucia enabled Joe Root's England team to regain a little self-respect with a 2 - 1 series defeat. (A 3 - 0 Windies win would have been devastating.)
This win in just four days might have spared England some blushes but the weaknesses in the test side remain largely unaddressed.
A fit Mark Wood can bring serious pace to the side but his somewhat delicate frame will always be a question mark.
Mo Ali is now a genuine spin bowler and there is backup in Jack Leach. The conundrum which is Adil Rashid remains more tricky to manage, however.
Dropping catches in every match has seemingly become a mega psychological problem to England when in the field.
The principal issue remain the fragility at the top of the batting order.
Regain the Ashes this summer? - Frankly, I doubt it.
I have far better hopes in the World Cup this summer. In the shorter format, England are very strong.
