Kevin’s family were thrown out of their village in Chiapas state, Mexico, and their home destroyed because of their faith. Worse still, he’s unable to go to school in his new neighbourhood because the paperwork and certificates he needs to register were left behind and it’s not safe to return.
Our campaign and advocacy focus on Alma’s story got a very encouraging response from federal government. Now is the time to build pressure – the next stage of our campaign is to focus on local governors in states like Kevin’s and Alma’s, where so much of the power lies.
State governors never normally receive this kind of international pressure – taking this unusual step will grab the Governor’s attention and, we hope, provoke him to act.
