Whatever Happened To Pilate?

Although Pilate is the best-attested governor of Judaea, only a few sources on his actual rule have survived.
We do know from the Roman/Jewish historian, Josephus, Pilate's removal from office occurred, rather strangely, because he violently suppressed an armed Samaritan movement at Mount Gerizim. (Not usually a cause to sack any Roman leader.)
Nationality of Pilate: Roman.
Died: 16 March AD 37, Misenum.
