The world boycott of apartheid South Africa involved a multifaceted campaign of economic, cultural, and sporting sanctions to isolate the government and protest its policies. The boycott was initiated by groups like the Committee of African Organizations in 1959 and grew to include consumer boycotts of products like fruit and sherry, academic boycotts of South African universities, and a ban on cultural and sporting exchanges. Huge numbers of (often - but not always) well-meaning folk across the world boycotted apartheid. Okay. Fine. A standard has been established but there is one question that must be answered:
Over the last 60 years was South Africa really the worst of all countries in modern times?
No other nation has ever been targeted in this manner or to this degree.
I shall not make a (lengthy) list of other nations as awful as that one but I do invite YOU, dear reader, to give considered thought to this vital issue.
