The people I have met in my life who have gone rightwards from left-wing views is almost beyond number.
I have just spent some 24 hours trying desperately to think of even a handful who have made the reverse journey.

Wisdom comes with age and experience and yet we have so much promotion of 'yoof' and the idea of 16 year olds with the vote is clearly a leftist plot to get 'em whilst they are still wet behind the ears and not thinking logically in political terms.

Farage In Election Debates?

Nigel Farage could be allowed to participate in the televised election debates, one of Ed Miliband's closest advisers has said.
Speaking exclusively to The Huffington Post UK, Stewart Wood, the peer who masterminded Miliband's leadership campaign, acknowledged Ukip posed a threat to the party and suggested Labour could back an in/out EU referendum.

Asked about the TV debates, Wood, a key figure in Miliband's inner-circle, said: "I think that Farage has become a major figure in our politics, whether you like it or not. My personal view is I wouldn’t have a blanket ban, no."
Despite referring to Ukip as a "very right-wing" party, Wood said Labour could not afford to ignore its recent surge in support.
"I think we should take Ukip very seriously, not just as an issue in Labour seats, but as the main vehicle at the moment for the 'plague on all your houses' sentiment from the British public," he said.
And he hit out at the prime minister over reports that the Conservatives may try and dodge or move the debates. "I don’t quite see how David Cameron, who was so passionate about having them last time, can refuse them this time," he said.
Ukip, as well as the Conservatives, are likely to use Labour's current refusal to back an in/out referendum on the EU in the 2015 campaign - and Wood conceded that Miliband may decide to support a vote on the UK's membership.

A magistrate has been forced to resign after she told how cannabis led to her  brother’s untimely death when she sentenced a drug dealer.
Great-grandmother Yvonne  Davies issued a heartfelt plea to the cannabis grower to mend his ways as she described the devastating impact of her brother’s drugs addiction on her family.
Even though Mrs Davies says she had spoken about her family’s experience ‘hundreds of times’ during her 14 years on the bench, she was told that her actions fell ‘well below’ the standards expected.
Following four complaints – including one from a pro-cannabis campaigner – Mrs Davies was officially reprimanded. The decision was signed off by Lord Chancellor Chris Grayling and the Lord Chief Justice, Lord Judge.
But the 65-year-old former chairman of the bench said her position was made ‘untenable’ following a ‘back-to-work’ interview, during which she says she was repeatedly asked to resign by senior colleagues. She quit last week.

G.K. Chesterton said that "when people stop believing in orthodox religion, rather than believe in nothing, they will believe in anything". One of the ersatz religions which fills the void in recent years is belief in Catastrophic Man-Made Global Warming. It claims to be based on science. But it has all the characteristics of an eschatological cult.
It has its own priesthood and ecclesiastical establishment - the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change; they alone can interpret its sacred scriptures - the Assessment Reports; it anathematises as 'deniers' anyone who casts doubt on its certainties; above all it predicts imminent doom if we do not follow its precepts and make the sacrifices it prescribes.
What most clearly distinguishes the Catastrophic Global Warming cult from science is that it is not refutable by facts. As Parliament enacted the Climate Change Bill, on the presumption that the world was getting warmer, it snowed in London in October - the first time in 74 years. Supporters explained "extreme cold is a symptom of global warming"!
The Met Office - whose climate model is the cult's crystal ball to forecast centuries ahead - has made a series of spectacularly unreliable short term forecasts: "Our children will not experience snow" (that was 2000, before the recent run of cold winters), a barbecue summer (before the dismal 2011 summer), the drought will continue (last spring before the wettest summer on record). Now they say that rain and floods are the new normal. But - hot or cold, wet or dry - global warming is always to blame.
Alarmists are reluctant to admit that the global surface temperature has not increased for 16 years, despite CO2 emissions rising far more than predicted. They wave this inconvenient truth away with the non-sequitur that this decade is the hottest since records began, so the world is still warming. If you climb a hill and reach a flat plateau you are higher than before - but the plateau is flat, not rising. When cornered, global warming alarmists assert that the current pause is simply the result of unspecified 'natural variations'. That implies that the pronounced warming over the previous 25 years may have been amplified by 'natural variations' in the other direction. In which case, the likely temperature rise for a given increase in CO2 may be less than previously estimated or required to produce the threatened doom.
In 2006 I asked how long the pause in warming would have to persist before the Met Office would revise its model. They replied that, since it is based on known laws of physics, they would never adjust it. Just like the German philosopher Hegel, who claimed to derive the laws of nature from first principles: when told that the facts did not agree with his theories, Hegel replied: "So much the worse for the facts"! Climate models do incorporate some established physical laws including the basic greenhouse effect which, having studied physics at Cambridge, I accept. This implies that doubling the concentration of CO2 will raise the temperature by a fairly harmless 1.2ºC. But the models amplify this several fold using assumptions about complex phenomena which cannot yet be reduced to simple physical laws.

This cult enables adherents to feel morally superior at little personal cost. Buy a Prius or vote Green and save the planet. Unfortunately, costly renewables are driving many into fuel poverty and manufacturing jobs overseas. Action by Britain is pointless unless China, India and Africa join in. They are most vulnerable to climate change. But they are vulnerable because they are poor. They will remain poor until they harness energy like us. Requiring them to forego fossil fuels in favour of renewables costing several times more condemns them to remain poor. The cult requires sacrificing the poor to Gaia. As Professor Bruckner concludes: "save the earth, punish mankind".

I had the misfortune to listen to this lady lambasting 'the gold standard which is marriage between a man and a woman' on Radio Humberside on Sunday morning.
So bemused by her off-the-wall comments was I, that I looked her up online - only to find that she is a vociferous mouthpiece for homosexual marriage and is herself a lesbian. In one piece I find that she claims that 'lesbians make better mothers' and elsewhere that 'homosexuality is not a sin'.
THIS IS A Church MINISTER WHO IS SUPPOSED TO BE A CHRISTIAN!

Can she be forgiven? - Of course!

FISHING POLICY.

UKIP deplored the decision to sign over control of British fishing grounds - which contain nearly 70% of Europe’s fish - to the EU’s Common Fisheries Policy (CFP).
The CFP has driven the British fishing industry and many fish species to the edge of extinction while non-EU nations such as Norway benefit from a healthy fishing industry. UKIP will:
· Immediately withdraw from the Common Fisheries Policy

· Reassert our territorial rights, reclaim our fishing grounds, restore our fishing fleet and support our fishing industry for future generations

· Return £2.5bn a year in fish sales to the UK economy

· Establish an ‘Exclusive Economic Zone’ extending 200 nautical miles from the UK’s coastline over which the UK exerts total control

· Abandon all EU quotas and strictly forbid the shameful discarding of dead fish - sometimes up to 70% of catches or 800,000 tons p.a.

.Require all commercial species of fish caught, regardless of size or species, to be landed and recorded. This will allow the Government to determine how best to manage the recovery of UK fishing grounds. To preserve fish stocks, UKIP will establish a system of moveable ‘No Take Zones’ allowing fish to spawn and assisting recovery in overfished areas

· Ban all forms of industrial fishing and pair trawling for bass. Industrial trawlers have helped cause a catastrophic decline in key fish species

· Strengthen the UK’s Fishery Protection resources to guard British fishing grounds
