We are getting well into that time where GCSE and some 'A' Level examinations are concerned.For years we were, and indeed have been told (more often than not by the liberal left) that "exams are intrinsically unfair."
Bit by bit, it has taken nearly 30 years to root out the worst excesses of continuous assessment but excesses do still remain.
A pupil shows a piece of work; teacher shows him/her where they have gone wrong; a draft is produced and then a final piece with the 'touch' of the teacher all over it is handed in.
The more honest the teacher in this process, the less well their proteges do.
Annual silly season is now entering its final phase!
