Belgium has accepted around 240 refugees, most of them Christians, from the Syrian city of Aleppo.
Before the war the city was home to around 160,000 Christians. Fierce fighting
has taken place around the city over the last three years. In recent weeks, IS
has launched a new assault on the surrounding area. Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali and
others have repeatedly called for western countries to do more to safeguard the
place of Christians in Syria and Iraq. Christian
Concern.
Note the figure of, presumably genuine,
refugees. Take that number and multiply it by 2,000. You then have the net
population gain in the UK last year from largely economic migrants. (Naturally
these figure do not include
illegals!)
