Boxing - Investigation Needed.

Sheedy - cheated out of title?
On the Spike Channel last evening were the two biggest fights on Dennis Hobson's recent bill in Rotherham. Both were English title fights. The first saw Dronfield's Lewis Taylor beat Cunningham of Stafford by being cut around the eye. It came from an accidental clash of heads, consequently the fight was stopped and Lewis won because he was ahead on the scorecards. Referee Terry O' Connor's action was horrendously premature. No sooner than the fight was over - it was clear that the cut was not a particularly bad one and the bleeding had stopped completely. Whether the doc had insisted on the stoppage or not, I cannot say.
In the Sheedy fight against Mansouri - Sheedy won by a country mile. One judge out of three scored it his way; one scored it heavily in favour of the inferior boxer and O'Connor - again- made a patently bizarre decision with his casting vote. Boxing's integrity cannot survive these kinds of decisions. (Unpleasant and perhaps unworthy thoughts are filling my head.)
