BBC stars? They're just like a bunch of greedy bankers! MPs attack the letter signed by 29 top names condemning shake-up plans
Millionaire stars signed a letter sent to Government urging BBC funding to be protected, but MPs said the stars' concerted attempt to halt reforms was motivated by self-interest. Chris Evans (left) - who is due to earn £5m over the next three years - Stephen Fry, Claudia Winkleman and Miranda Hart were among 29 celebrities who wrote to David Cameron warning the shake-up will 'diminish' Britain. Others who backed the letter included Gary Lineker (second from left), who earns £2m as presenter of Match of the Day, Graham Norton (second from right), who earns a reported £1m from the BBC, and Clare Balding (right), whose income hit the £500,000 mark last year through. But yesterday the actors, presenters and writers were accused of lobbying for a regime that awards them substantial salaries and commissioning fees. Mail.
