Theatre is branded 'racist' and boycotted by actors after a casting director hired white people to play CHINESE characters
The Print Room, in Notting Hill, West London, has been branded 'racist' after they cast four white actors in East Asian roles in a new production of Howard Barker's play In The Depths Of Deep Love. Mail.
Think of all of the inappropriate roles which have been given to black actors then trumpeted as triumphs - Romeo, for one. What of the lobby to have James Bond portrayed as a black actor? - Black characters in historical parts when no black people could possibly have been present?
Now, I did not have the gall to complain about these - I shrugged them off with an 'If they want to be inaccurate - that's their choice.'
I just cannot brook the egregious double standards!
