Yes, doctors have to work hard but surely they knew that before taking up medicine. And are we really supposed to shed tears for people in one of the country’s highest paid professions, whose basic starting salary is £40,257 rising to £53,398 after a few years? And there’s generous overtime on top of that.
Add to that the gold-plated pensions; the fact that an average GP’s salary is £100,000 while an NHS consultant earns between £88,364 and £119,133; and the cherry on top of all that is the buckets of money they can make from private work.
So BOO HOO to the BMA’s lies that their pay has fallen by 26 percent in real terms since 2008. The Institute for Fiscal Studies has debunked that.
Another BMA lie is that junior docs earn the same as a coffee barista – £14.09 an hour. Tosh! That figure applies to just 11 percent of THE most inexperienced doctors [- and NOT for very long!]
The Government must not give in to these vile BMA activists. And if junior docs have any sense they’ll sever all ties with Corbyn’s Momentum lackeys and save what’s left of their reputations. Then they can get back to saving lives. Express.
