Dates: Ezekiel and Jerusalem.

Ezekiel received his first vision of Jerusalem in 593 BC. He was living in exile in Babylon, and this was the fifth year of King Jehoiachin's captivity. His later, more detailed temple vision occurred in 592 BC, and a final vision about the restoration of the temple is dated to 573 BC.

  • First Vision (593 BC): Ezekiel received his initial calling and had a vision of God by the river Chebar, which led to a prophecy of Jerusalem's siege. The text specifies this was the "thirtieth year" and the fifth year of Jehoiachin's exile, which began in 597 BC.
  • Second Temple Vision (592 BC): In chapters 8-11, Ezekiel describes a vision where he is carried by the Spirit to Jerusalem to see the city's corruption. This occurred in the sixth year of his exile, on the fifth day of the sixth month.
  • Vision of Restoration (573 BC): Ezekiel's final vision, which detailed a new temple, is dated to the "twenty-fifth year of our captivity" and is considered to be April 28, 573 BC.
