A Hallam University report has indicated that there are 1.7 million who are "hidden unemployed" in our nation and Professor Steve Fothergill states that one million out of the 2.7 million on incapacity benefits would be in work in a genuine, "fully employed economy".This begs one question, I feel. Why are we importing labour from across the globe as well as the EU when the people mentioned here are already over and above our official unemployment figures?
Once this question is asked, a second springs immediately to mind. Which of the three major parties has pledged to tackle this nonsense? - [But I suspect that you already know the answer to that one.]
