Several members of house churches
in Sichuan province in south-west China remain in custody after officials raided
their meeting.
Dozens of police and security officials turned up at Langzhong House
Church in Langzhong, Nanchong, last Tuesday morning, where about 70
representatives from different house churches had gathered.
Officers arrested 23 Christians, including two pastors and two
missionaries, for attending an ‘illegal assembly’. Five of them are being held
in ‘administrative detention’ for 15 days, and four are being detained for ten
days. The remaining 14 have been released.
Langzhong House Church is no stranger to persecution (see Prayer Alert, April 29,
2013). As recently as Christmas Eve,
three of its members were detained after police raided a home in Baoma Town.
They were held for between five and 12 days.
