Two people who were attacked in separate incidents at the Notting Hill Carnival have died.

Scotland Yard said Cher Maximen, a mother who was stabbed in front of her three-year-old daughter, had died. The 32-year-old was stabbed in the groin after attempting to break up a fight at the west London event on Aug 25.

She was taken to hospital and went into a coma after one of her lungs collapsed and she lost 20 units of blood. The Met said she died on Saturday morning.

Three people were arrested in connection with the attack. Shakiel Thibou, 20, of Hammersmith, west London, appeared at Westminster magistrates’ court charged with attempted murder, violent disorder and possession of a knife.

His brothers Sheldon Thibou, 24, of Hammersmith, and Shaeim Thibou, 22, of Fulham, also appeared, charged with violent disorder and assaulting an emergency worker.

District Judge John Zani remanded all three defendants into custody to next appear together for a hearing at the Old Bailey on Sep 25. DT.
