As a Magistrate qualified to sit as a judge in Crown Court, I once was privileged to sit with Judge Goldsack and it is no surprise to me that there has been an outburst and plea from him for common sense. He attacks 'guidelines' which have been a frequent target for me on this Blog. "A judge yesterday attacked rules which prevented him from banning one of Britain's worst drivers from the roads for life.....Many of his crimes resulted in high-speed police chases as he tried to evade capture and he put other drivers and pedestrians in serious danger, a court heard. Judge Alan Goldsack, QC, said it was only a matter of time before Stevenson killed someone and it was 'pure chance' he had not already done so."
