Letter on the mark.

Congratulations to Mr Holiday of Maidenhead for his succinct piece of excellence in today's Daily Mail:- "If the Archbishop of Canterbury cannot tell the difference between wearing a cross and wearing a veil, then he is unfit for purpose."

Love it!

Consequences of abortion.

Fifteen senior obstetricians and psychiatrists have recently signed a statement which declares that women who have had an abortion are three times as likely to suffer depression and/or mental illness.
I wonder how many women arriving for a "termination" are told the full facts; the undiluted truth; the consequences?
I wonder how many are shown what a 20 week old foetus looks like or even what the development is at 12 weeks?
What? - None?

Gay Police Association.

This august body has recently had the effrontery to claim that Christians are responsible for so-called hate-crime attacks on homosexuals. Apparently this was accomplished in the form of a rather nauseating advert.
I am guessing that such laughable claims are best ignored - they are so absurd they can only backfire on the accusers.

The not-so-Independent.

I have caught the Independent recently [one step below catching flu, I now believe]. I had not realised that this rag is now as bad as the Guardian. I have reviewed Letters Pages and have been astonished by the pure arrogance of the we-know-what-is-best-for-you brigade who receive absurd amounts of space. Add these to the aggressive atheists who rather typically infected the pages last Saturday and I can say that it will be a long time before I subsidise that organ of the liberal elite again!

Bramshill.

Where do they find all these appalling Chief Constables? Virtually every single one is a raving, out-of-touch idiot who exudes political correctness out of every pore and has not got the slightest inkling what police work is about - although to be fair - they do probably display expertise on 'gender in the workplace'.
The answer to the question is "They are not found they are CREATED!"
Welcome to Bramshill senior police college.

John Humphrys

I am normally an admirer of the genial and thoughtful John Humphrys but his recent explanation of why he is (now) an atheist does him few favours intellectually.
In very simple terms, he is rehashing that old chestnut "How can there be a God if there is nastiness in the world?"
Where do you start? I suppose it must be pointed out to him that there is such a thing as freewill - and this has consequences.
Rather than write a lengthy essay here, I shall just state that I know God is real because I know God. I have engaged with the loving deity who has changed my life, guided me and literally worked tangible miracles too. How can Mr Humphrys gainsay that experience. However approached it becomes an overweening arrogance.
People who are genuinely searching for truth must remember: "Seek and you will find." I have never yet met anybody who has taken that step in total honesty who has failed to find God.
You see John, God is NOT an opinion but a reality to be encountered.

Christians who are homosexual.

The Dean of St Albans Jeffrey John has 'married' his partner Grant Holmes in a civil ceremony. The Church of England's own rules state that clergy cannot be actively homosexual but that has not stopped his own Bishop, Christopher Herbert backing the decision. This is an outrage!
The former Archbishop of York David Hope admitted his homosexual leanings and honourably and scripturally decided that he had to remain celibate - a right and proper decision.
There can be no such entity as a 'Gay Christian' movement other than one which maintains absolute celibacy.
To'celebrate being gay' is scripturally precisely the same as to 'celebrate being an adulterer' or to 'be proud to be a liar', 'glad to be a murderer' etc.
Anybody who does not understand that the Bible teaches that unrepented sin leads to hell cannot be a Christian as they have no concept of salvation. Salvation is not for all but is offered to all.
In no other area of Christianity do we 'honour' sin and we may not begin here.
What the 'gay christian' is doing is saying that their opinions are more important than God's rules. Fair enough but do not be surprised by the consequences. We all have freewill. We all sin. We all fall. Christians try to leave sin behind them not wallow in it.
What of those with homosexual tendencies - is this fair? Put simply, we all have our own cross to bear and our own temptations. When I sin I do not say "Sorry God. This is how you made me. You were wrong." I try to repent - not always successfully - but I do try.

Friend or foe?

I have just come back from the local newsagent where a notice was prominently displayed with the words "Friend or foe, we don't know" alongside a picture of two young men wearing 'hoodies'. The notice implied that dressing in such a way would result in you not being served.
The owner of the shop is a simply delightful and charming Muslim lady.
No further comment needed, I feel.

Church of Latter Day saints

Yesterday I had the dubious pleasure of having my day disturbed by two well-dressed young men with american accents arriving on my front doorstep. Mormon missionaries. I have already dealt with how to recognise a cult on this Blog - [see posting from the 10/7/06] and they fulfil the criteria.
The Scriptures condemn them. KJV. Galatians 1:8: "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed." [ Mormons claim their religion was founded by an angel called Moroni.]
Furthermore, in Revelation 22 it states in verses 18-19, "I give fair warning to all who hear the words of the prophecy of this book: If you add to the words of this prophecy, God will add to your life the disasters written in this book... " [Mormons consider the Book of Mormon to be at least on a par with the Bible. I managed to get hold of one from a former landlady and have never encountered such infantile twaddle.]
No mincing of words in the Scriptures, though. Nobody can misinterpret what they say, so only a liberal Christian can get around this. They do so with a well-used device - they ignore it.

NOTE. The picture above is of the holy, Mormon underwear.

Pointless higher education.

I think it was in 1988 when, as Head of Careers in a large comprehensive, I gave a young lady called Helen some assistance to get a job in the Midland Bank. She had 5 'O' Level passes.
I recently spoke to a senior banker who confirmed that this job now requires a degree. We both agreed that other than the need for a few more IT skills, the two jobs remain virtually the same.
Just what is the point of over-educating people? Is it just an attempt to shorten the period of time they are available in the world of work?
There is a massive downside. A person with a degree has the expectation that this will 'buy' them career progress. They have taken two years doing 'A' Levels and three years or more working on a degree so can we be surprised by this? A large proportion are going to be hugely disappointed.
Not only has the victim lost some five years of earning potential, they are probably saddled with major debts - all to permit them to do a job that was well served by 'O' Level entrants.
There are tens of thousands of Media Studies (or EASY) degrees which are socially worthless and not even useful for getting work in the media where expertise in a subject is more important. Psychology and Marxist Studies - sorry - I mean Sociology, have minimal value - certainly in the numbers which they are turned out.
This is just SO unfair to our young people. It is self evident that somebody who struggles to get into the top 40% cannot possibly be doing work of the same quality as the 5% were doing 40 years ago.
Too many lecturers are stating to me that they are having to teach work which had formerly been completed on 'A' Level Papers. So easily proved.
Shoe-horning young people into university causes standards to plummet dangerously. It is very difficult to find positives in a fine education system which has now been utterly debased.
Today, you need to stay on even longer to do a Masters or Phd in order to achieve an equality of standard! This is probably where the top 5% can now be found!

A right royal disaster.

Prince Charles just does not get it, does he? He is supposed to become Head of the Church of England and as that illustrious body attempts suicide through political correctness, instead of standing up for God and tradition, he confirms that he will insist on a multi-faith coronation.
If practising Christians are alienated - liberal Christians are of little consequence here - one more area of support for Royalty will begin to melt away; one more more nail in the coffin of a failing institution.
One thing we learn here, I suppose, The Prince of Wales cannot be a Christian. Judgemental? - No!
"By their fruits ye shall know them." Even the most cursory glance at the 10 Commandments reveals that such involvement is not on. By all means invite members of other religions to a Christian ceremony.
I wonder how many other religions dilute their beliefs by mingling with 'foreign' religions in the countries where their own is dominant?

PC P.C.

Greater Manchester police are to avoid arresting Muslim criminals during Ramadan. I wonder how law-abiding Muslims feel about this piece of arrant PC nonsense?
I assume that, in fairness, they will not be arresting any people who claim to be Christian over Christmas and Easter.
What do you think?

BBC bias? - Spooky!

Did you catch the BBC series 'Spooks'? I most assuredly did not as it was clearly drivel designed for people with absolutely nothing better to do and probably with an advanced death wish. Seriously sad! I don't think I managed to get through the very first episode.
Valued voices are telling me it is the Beeb up to its old and not so old tricks of 'educating us' - and I do not mean in the Lord Reith sense!
It apparently portrays Al Qaeda as mildly aberrant and then indulges in state sponsored anti-semitism!
Can't say I was too surprised!

Plummeting standards.

In 1999, a pupil of mine who had studied and failed the two GCSE subjects I taught him also managed to fail every other subject.
He was simply incapable of academic work. The thought that he would, in future, take 'A' Levels was laughable.
The last time I met this very decent young man, he was just completing his university degree!
There will be those who will naively assure us that this is a triumph for a system which rescues the 'late developers'. It is not. It is something far more dangerous - a system which has been so downgraded as to make a degree utterly worthless.
What else can you expect? When I went to university in 1970, I was one of about 5% to go and the state could afford to fund every student worthy of a place.
With 43% now going - and 50% as the target - degrees inevitably became massively downgraded and at a lunch, I put this to former Fisheries Minister, Eliot Morley, who accused me of being "an elitist".
I immediately shrank away in horror to learn what I was. I suffered profound mental trauma. I lost sleep at night. I felt ashamed; humiliated; belittled; anti-social. I hurt inside. What a cruel and dreadful thing to be called - a member of Her Majesty's Government had effectively accused me of being somebody who believes in quality and excellence. My shame is ongoing to this very day.

No to billions of years. The proof!

Big news from the world of science. Professor Claus Rolfs of the Ruhr University, has shown that one of the great 'beliefs' of physics is demonstrably false. It may sound boring to state that his research shows that external factors have a major effect on radioactive decay and to the average reader, I am sure that the response will be a resounding "So what?"
What it means is that if half lives of radioactive elements are not a constant, and that decay rates could have, indeed must have been faster at various times in the past, then all uniformitarian theory is blown out of the water. Still puzzled?
This means simply that the universe is considerably younger than postulated by evolutionary scientists. If it is that young, THERE IS NO POSSIBILITY WHATSOEVER THAT EVOLUTION COULD WORK!
Combine this with increasing proof that the speed of light is not a constant either - which also affects radioactive decay inter al - and you can see that the religion of evolution is about to be proved categorically false. Not that this will be admitted, of course. Not that school textbooks will be rewritten honestly. There is already enough information out there to destroy the hypothesis twenty times over and yet still it survives - so do not hold your breath!

If decay can be speeded up, it answers critics of nuclear energy who say that waste with half lives of tens of thousands of years means that nuclear power can never be worth the legacy of radioactive filth we leave to future generations. If waste could render down, under controlled conditions in mere decades, then the whole argument will have to be looked at from scratch.

Inside Out.

The BBC 1 programme 'Inside Out' overplayed its hand on Monday last when it did a feature on UKIP MEP Godfrey Bloom. Desperate for ex-boxer Jonny Nelson to show him up as some sort of throwback to a bygone age, all the programme did was to show a man who has strong, well-based opinions and who is not afraid to be seen as a tad eccentric. Many will have adored him.
The real loser for the BBC was when they asked a number of priggish, self-righteous, hubris-laden, sanctimonious, europhile MEPs about UKIP - whereupon these promptly resorted to mockery. I suppose that is what you must do when your case cannot be based on argument!Their arrogance was utterly detestable and contrasted with the gentle Mr Bloom as they laughed scornfully and made it clear that anybody who dared to oppose the EU was simply barking.
This will have opened the eyes of a great many voters in the UK to the type of people we are dealing with in Brussels and Strasbourg. When these egregious MEPs became so patronising, it was not so much of UKIP as of us, the British voters, who have seen through their web of corruption and imperialistic deceits.

Update. 27/10/06. Godfrey wrote to me today to explain that the Beeb reneged on its agreement with him to major on EU issues. A considerable amount of such material was recorded and ALL abandoned. on the cutting room floor.
Verminous!

James Whale

Apparently the radio broadcaster James Whale is set to become the UKIP candidate for Mayor of London. Politically this man is sensible, astute and down to earth.
It is a shame that he gives the impression of being so very anti God.

The Scottish phenomenon.

Scottish students, whether rich or poor, pay no tuition fees to go to Scottish universities. Impoverished or not, English, Welsh and Irish students must all pay.
BUT did my reader realise that students from throughout the EU get free tuition in Scotland?
Do we not fund the EU enough without seeing our young people so shamefully mistreated?

Feminism.

If you have ever been of the view that feminism is about 'equality for women' I urge you to do a simple test which will be most revealing.

Take a piece of trenchant, feminist propaganda and substitute the word 'woman' every time you see 'man' written down and vice verca. The same with he/she, him/her etc.
Then ask yourself whether or not the result, if published, would get you: a) Prosecuted. b) Disembowelled (if female) C) Emasculated (if male).

Pope attacks attacks on marriage.

This week the Pope has stood up for marriage. He has attacked homosexuality as 'deviancy' and has told Italian Catholics to 'defend marriage' and shun 'other forms of union'.
I wonder how many more Anglicans will now be preparing to jump ship and head to Rome? I do hope that most head towards their local evangelical Church instead.

Members of the BBC have finally 'come clean' and admitted to the leftwing, anti-Christian bias which we have all seen and the BBC Bias website has logged.

Put these words into a sentence." Lunatics. Asylum. Over."

A tribunal has just ruled that two women Police officers who are being granted the special privilege of not working nights for family reasons - [I do not suppose this could possibly mean that their male colleagues must work extra nights to cover for them] - must be paid night shift bonuses for the nights they do not work!

Aishah Azmi.

There is just one question needing to be answered in the row over the ludicrous demands of Aishah Azmi to be allowed to wear a burkah which will unquestionably interfere with her helping youngsters in class. Let us forget the absurdities of a system of employment tribunals which is even prepared to hear a case of such absurdity without awarding heavy costs against such a frivolous appeal. Let us also forget the possible £250, 000 bill which the British taxpayer may have to fund if this nonsense goes before a European Court. Let us forget that such courts should have NO jurisdiction to interfere in our affairs. Let us forget that some repugnant Cherie Blair type - sorry, Cherie Booth type - will no doubt be falling over herself to stick a boot into all our faces in 'upholding the rights of such a worthy, persecuted individual' by racing to represent her - undoubtedly pro bono. Let us forget the nasty, politically correct British Airways (whom I now boycott) which has attacked a staff member for wearing a modest cross. Let us forget all the customary double standards. Let us forget the weasel words of our politicians.

The question which MUST now be answered however, is this:- What did Aishah Azmi wear to her job interview? [I think we all know the answer to that one!]

COMPETITION. WIN YOUR VERY OWN BURKAH!
Using your natural skill, decide which of the pictures above - ( or neither) - is of the real Aishah Azmi.

A short break.

After the rigours of enduring a farcical Ofsted inspection at our school, my good lady and I are fleeing to Iberia for a few days.
New postings will appear from next weekend.

2 inspectors came around for three days; attended a portion of just 13 lessons - often for just a quarter of an hour -, twittered about paperwork, ignored 6 out of the 11 main subjects including Maths - and declared teaching 'good' in ICT which they had not even bothered to visit!
Of course, we did not mind paying out more than 2% of our entire budget to fund this absurdity. As a tiny school - we shall not miss the £6,000! We are not at all resentful that the criteria used on us, if applied to our link comprehensive, would have seen it being charged £65,000.[They were actually charged £000.] Bitter? - Moi?

Hitchens on the ball.

I wonder how many people there are out there who would disagree with this simple assessment of our sorry, undemocratic political state? Peter Hitchens fires many arrows. Very few fail to find the bull.

"Plenty of serious and patriotic people would enter parliamentary politics to deal with these and related questions, if only they could. I would myself. But we are effectively barred from doing so. MPs are not chosen at general elections, where tribal voting confirms the choices of party cliques. Our constitution gives huge unstated power to the two major parties. If they wish to close down debate on a subject, then that debate ceases and those who wish to take part in it are silenced."

No apologies.

I make no apology for the apparently disproportionate amounts of time spent exposing the anti-Christianity stance of so many senior figures in the Church of England. They really are incapable of standing up for the Word of God in a modern society.
The latest outrage is that they are accepting, nay actively supporting, the government's intention to grant equal rights to cohabiting couples. In a statement oozing with weasel words they begin "Whilst affirming mariage as the best context...." - You can guess the rest!
Shameful. They really have lost the plot. If these people truly are Christians - then Heaven help us.
The Anglican leadership is to Christianity what First World War generals were to military campaigns with minimal casualties.

Proverbs.

When a nation's punishments bear no resemblance whatsoever to the Lex Talionis, not only are they an offence to most of the people, they are also an offence to God. It is not for our so-called do-gooders to effectively 'let people off' unpunished.
In Proverbs 17:15 it says: "To acquit the guilty and to condemn the innocent are both abominable to the Lord."
Today the liberal, christian left would claim that, as they want convictions, this does not apply to what they are working to achieve. But convictions where there are no balanced, earthly consequences, fall well outside these parameters.

Who is Jonathan Sarfati?

Doctor Jonathan Sarfati is a New Zealander and one of those people with an extraordinary intelligence of whom very few are thrown up in any generation. He is also New Zealand's top chess player and is well known internationally. He is a chemist/physicist and a major embarrasssment to the evolutionary establishment as he refuses to join their ranks. Jonathan - a convinced creationist - has written countless articles which have utterly destroyed the evolutionary hypothesis.
Strangely, leading purveyors of evolutionary propaganda are unwilling to meet him in open debate.
I wonder what they are so afraid of?

Lord Chief Injustice.

The LCJ Lord Philips is one more establishment figure to pursue the idea that "too many people are being jailed".
Paradoxically however, the prisons are so full because felons are NOT being jailed. They are allowed to run up lengthy criminal records - I know I saw plenty in ten years on the Bench - without any danger whatsoever of being locked up. Enormously encouraged, they either increase offending levels or move up the scale and when jail becomes inevitable - it is then frequently a much longer sentence in Crown Court.
Lord Phillips fails to grasp that community penalties are only as good as the respect afforded to them by their consumers. How can he explain a criminal record with 12, 15 or even more 'second chances'? How can even three be justified? These may be in the form of CROs (probation), CPOs (work orders) DTTOs (Drug Treatment and Testing Orders), curfew orders and of course, the risible ASBO.
To make the system work EVERY breach of such an order must lead to custody. The community penalty itself MUST be viewed as a last chance. When ASBOs were first mooted, experienced JPs immediately said that the potential was excellent but that they would simply become another expensive white elephant. 100% of breaches were to be jailed. (Ha, ha.) By the time I trained for these in July 2004 it was around half of breaches escaped custody. Last I heard, it was 60% escaping prison and that figure is rising!.
I am sorry but the evidence that 'fear works' is unchallengeable. Present day criminals do not go to court shaking in their boots - and they should. Their victims are put in fear - but they are not. This is not justice. It is the perpetuation of an immoral system.
The basic misunderstanding of the out of touch liberals and hangers on, is in believing that "inside every criminal is a decent citizen who is struggling to get out." Naive, idealistic twaddle! We have created an amoral, criminal, parasitical underclass and then believe that they want to be as responsible as the majority of people undoubtedly are. Simply wrong. Crime pays. Never let us forget this point.

UKIP on verge of a breakthrough?

UKIP has always been starved of publicity. Nigel Farage has impressed many on Question Time. Now that he leads UKIP, he is perhaps the reason why press coverage of last weekend's conference was greater than usual.
Excellent. As he pointed out - all three major parties have a centre-left consensus. Where else can a political non-extremist now cast a vote?
Rock on Nigel!

Multifaith is a social disaster.

So the C of E has allowed a document to be 'leaked' condemning 'multifaith' on the grounds that it has been more divisive rather than less. It is generally perceived that preferential treatment - especially from politicians of the left [my point] - has been afforded to the 3% of the nation who are Muslim. Certainly, they have received different treatment to the Sikhs, Hindus, Jews and members of Chinese religions. It almost implies a kind of superiority. This Blog frequently points out those instances where Muslims are 'judged by a different standard ' to the majority in the UK and certainly to Christians. Clearly, this is worse in the inner cities where the left think that they can pick up cheap votes. Once again I shall point out the inconsistencies of a great many on the left who are pro political correctness and pro Islam. Without wishing the image to be seen as offensive, it is like giving active support for both marxism and fascism at the same time.
This prefererential treatment is reminiscent of a family with many children - some of whom are late adoptions. One of these is then spoilt by the parents. This causes two major problems. Firstly, the lucky child gets used to the privileges and begins to develop unreasonable expectations. Secondly, the other children become profoundly resentful.
The idiot in the street could see this..........
I do not condemn good relations between the various religions and if neither abused nor used for compromise, even Interfaith can be reasonable.
It is an abomination that some so-called Christians have accepted joint worship services with other religions. I repeat an old point. People have the 'right to be wrong' in a democratic society however that does not give the Church leave to dilute the faith. I have actually read the 10 Commandments even if they have not.

Postponement

The implementation of the Sexual Orientation (Provision of Goods & Services) regulations has been delayed by Ruth Kelly after countless complaints by Christian groups. Once again, our politically correct government has misread how people will respond to the forcing through of their pet projects.
Ruth Kelly herself is thought to be rather lukewarm on setting these plans in motion. Will a six month moratorium lead to their ultimate abandonment?

[Bishop Jack in Sheffield has still not responded to my communication to him on this topic last June!]

Damage from Gordon.

So much written on this site criticises our noble Chancellor of the Exchequer that it seems almost cruel to stick the boot in yet again - but the man is an old style socialist and so we must expect disaster over the financial areas which he runs.
A report from the Institute for Fiscal Studies reveals that, since 1997, benefit claimants get to keep less for choosing to work than they did 9 years ago. 2.5p in the pound to be precise. "Life can sometimes move in certain ways" do I hear you say? - Well. That would be fine had there not been wholesale, complex, so-called reforms of tax and benefits by Mr Brown specifically designed to have the opposite effect.
People on benefits continue to choose to stay at home.

Close it down!

Surely the time has now arrived. The Church of England is so infected with political correctness, leftwing liberalism and plain stupidity that it needs to be put down. If it were an animal enduring that much misery - you would quietly and lovingly wish it farewell and then you would pop it round to the vets for him/her to administer the final injection. It would be considered 'the kindest thing to do'.
Surely any remaining and passing resemblance of this moribund organisation to being a Church, actually dedicated to the God of Christianity, has now entirely disappeared; there are people within claiming this very week that God, if referred to as 'He', is the root cause of domestic violence!

When all its other self destructive tendencies are added, do we not have to ask the question how its few residual Christians, can in conscience, remain in this laughing stock?
Let it die. Let the liberal fellow travellers go wherever they will. Let the Christians begin again even if it means abandoning the buildings. "Church" is not a set of antiquated buildings - it is about PEOPLE who are sold out to God.

Orwell.

Somebody recently quoted these words of George Orwell in 1984 as part of a larger piece : "The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power. Not wealth or luxury or long life or happiness: only power, pure power. ...We are different from the oligarchies of the past, in that we know what we are doing. All the others, even those who resembled ourselves, were cowards and hypocrites., The German Nazis and Russian Communists came very close to us in our methods, but they never had the courage to recognise their own motives. They pretended, perhaps they even believed, that they had seized power unwillingly and for a limited time, and that just around the corner there lay a paradise where human beings would be free and equal. We are not like that. We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means, it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship."

Please, Please, Please Rishi, COMPLETE BREXIT!

It’s time to finish the work of Brexit, and finally bring control back to our sovereign Parliament. A ludicrous decision in Strasbourg prove...
