A mere 60 deaths a year, Mr Clarke.

'More than one murder every week is committed by a criminal who could have been locked up, it emerged last night.
Shocking figures show how 60 deaths could have been prevented if the criminal had been remanded in custody rather than released on bail after their first offence.'
A RESOUNDING VICTORY FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO CLEAR OUR PRISONS.

Let us juxtapose this with the vain attempts of abolitionists to 'prove' that an innocent was hanged every decade or so when there was rather more justice available than there is today.
These alleged miscarriages of justice are almost entirely spurious and at the very least, dubious claims.
Extrapolating from these figures, we could expect 6oo people who are verifiably dead at the hands of a 'bail bandit' over a decade.
So. Where is the perspective?
Listen how loud the silence is from our liberal left friends.
I think that it was former Chief Probation Officer, Peter Coad, who pointed out that released 'lifers' kill at the rate of one per fortnight.
To what extent these figures overlap - I could not say.
