
His analysis of the Irish crisis which led to the resignation of the appalling Bertie Ahern, is so to the point, it is almost frightening.
He indicates that the Toaiseach's resignation, because of him facing corruption charges, was timed in such a way as to influence the Irish Referendum on the EU Constitution which could otherwise well have been lost.
So Daniel Hannan points out that the EU seems to possess awesome powers - even determining the 'when' for bad guys to fall on their swords.
He compares this to CS Lewis's "That Hideous Strength" - again a terrific call as I too am an admirer of that great writer.
