Taxing.

A recent letter on Ceefax rather critically claimed that the Thatcher government was taking in more in tax than Brown's government does.
The truth of this I do not know but I am aware that this is more than likely.
A senior tax official once pointed out to me that it is an established principle of taxation that 'the lower the taxation, the more comes in' - and the converse is true.
Higher taxation drives out entrepreneurs and massively increases the incidence of tax evasion.

The poor sucker on PAYE continues to get a raw deal.
