What planet does Harperson inhabit?

'Workers will be entitled to claim paid leave to care for sick relatives under plans commissioned by Women's Minister Harriet Harman.
All employees would also win the right to request flexible working hours to look after children and the elderly.'

Is this woman as utterly stupid as she appears to be at first sight?

Has she no concept at all of what she is doing?

Does she not realise the pressures that similar types of legislation have already placed on small businesses?

Does she not realise that for many an enterprise this will be the final straw?

Can she not grasp that this will cause jobs to disappear?

Is she unable to see that - government and quangos apart - there will be a backlash on the employment of women who will be perceived as the main beneficiaries of such legislation?

Does she not recognise that this is one more Government/EU imposed problem which makes the desire to run your own business one notch less worthwhile?

Can she assure us that this will not fuel price rises/inflation?

Several years ago Godfrey Bloom MEP was pilloried for stating that it is not in the interests of businesses to employ women under the terms of the legislation at that point.
Taken as sexist by 'the usual suspects', his remark was anything but! He was actually defending the women who were going to suffer from this leftwing thoughtlessness.
Many businesses already offer flexibility to employees in times of crisis if at all possible. This is ordering them to do so when it is not!

And yes, I do know that such legislation would be 'rather nice' for the recipients.
But it would also be rather nice if the government were to send a £10,ooo cheque to every UK adult - but I can easily see the disasters inherent in that too!
