Honours.

SIR Michael Parkinson? Honours for Kylie Minogue?
This system is a joke.
What have these people done to earn an honour? They have become famous - nothing more.
In what way have they improved society by one iota?
It should be a very rare exception when somebody gains an honour just for doing their job.

Honours should be granted to: good examples, the selfless, the caring, workers for charity etc.

They should not be awarded to actors, singers, civil servants, politicians, toadies and the wealthy - well not without an alternative reason, anyway.
