Pensions

I do not often utter words of solace to tories but it is clear that Margaret Thatcher appears to have had a rather worse press than she deserved.

She was blamed for her government's attitude to old age pensions after it cut the link to average wages but interestingly, in her day this ran at 24.4% of the average weekly wage.
After 10 years of 'compassionate' Labour, the figure is a mere 15.9%.
Hmm! I suppose that if you waste the nation's money on: the EU, quangos, bureaucracy, wars, the indolent, the undeserving, Domes and nutty projects, you cannot afford to improve the poorest old age pensions in W. Europe at the same time.

Pensioners, please be aware. This is not personal. It is all about priorities and for Labour - you aren't one!
