Newspapers.

The Daily Star is simply not fit for purpose - that is unless you have an old fashioned 'outside lavvie'.
Second worst is clearly The Daily Mirror. It has all the trash of the Daily Star but with a marked tendency to support any nonsense that Labour throws at us and can often be quite politically correct. News coverage is poor and it indulges in excessive hero worship of celebrities.
The Sun is nowhere near as poor as some make out and easily beats The Mirror as it has some news, some sensible editorials but does lose out badly in trying to worship celebrities and enjoys scandals rather too much.
The Express is nowhere as sound a paper as it used to be but has improved out of all recognition from the depths to which it had descended five years ago. Can talk sense. Has Leo McKinstry as a columnist which is extremely positive.
Of what we formerly called the tabloids, The Mail wins hands down. A little too eager to laud the conservatives but has Melanie Phillips and Andrew Alexander as columnists which is a massive plus point. It covers news in more depth than all the rest and is a reasonably good buy if you do not have the time to go through all of the 'posh' press.

Worst of the 'better' papers by many miles is The Guardian {The Observer on Sundays] better known of course as The Grauniad from its many misspellings. There is no leftwing liberal cause which it will fail to espouse. It used to be the paper of the old Liberal Party but now supports Labour unashamedly. It promotes the EU like a child roots for Santa.
It actually believes that political correctness is 'a good thing' and is cursed with the oh-so-silly Polly Toynbee, whose political beliefs are the epitome of naivety.
The Independent isn't. It is trying to rival The Guardian and always enjoys its pro-EU stance and is arguably the most atheistic of all the papers.
Perhaps the most neutral and genuinely independent of this group of papers is The Times. You tend to support its ideas in equal measure to the times you deplore them.
Far away the best newspaper is The Daily Telegraph in terms of sense and quality but regrettably it is the organ of the arch tories and so is somewhat ambivalent in its attitude to the EU.
In my neck of the woods, The Yorkshire Post is a quality paper but gives too little coverage to S. Yorks.

I do a great deal of work with newspapers so I feel qualified to comment. Hope this proves helpful to my readers.
